2010年 4月 23日から日本で公開開始した『タイタンの戦い』(Clash of the Titans) も

  " announced that London-based visual effects house Cinesite,
   a Kodak company, carried out artistic rendering of animation and
   scene development for the current Warner Bros blockbuster
   "Clash of the Titans" using a storage system from BlueArc."

  "The project was the first at Cinesite to be completed which utilized
   a new BlueArc Mercury system as storage for rendered animation and
   composited shots. During the creation of "Clash of the Titans",
   Cinesite managed almost 200 terabytes of data, concurrently feeding
   over 2500 render cores to produce the visual effects."

  "Mercury virtualized storage pool allows Cinesite to seamlessly
   manage 130 terabytes of tiered SAS and SATA disk capacity."

  "Tier one uses high performance SAS disk for handling output image
   data as well as 3D movie files comprising thousands of image files
   per frame and thousands of frames per shot.  SATA disk in Tier
   two provides high bandwidth access to randomly accessed files
   such as raw scans which are fed sequentially into the pipeline."

Mercury Network Storage System

この映画も 3D/2Dですが、3D対応だと今まで以上にディスクが必要とされる
のですね。管理コストを考えたら NFSだと楽ですよね、

こちらは Infortrendを使用した Lustreです
  "The renderfarm supercomputer used 1,000 clustered vanilla Dell X86
   servers linked by 4Gbit/s Fibre Channel to an initial 50TB of
   RAID-6-protected storage, front-ended with HP storage server processors,
   using Infortrend arrays. A Linux cluster file system was implemented
   and each Dell server core had 2GB of DRAM. The storage ultimately grew
   to 200TB."

  The Lustre cluster
  "Apart from the 6,000 core render farm, using Dell dual-socket, quad
   core Xeons, there is a Lustre cluster file system meta-server with
   two 4Gbit/s Fibre Channel-attached RAID arrays, using SAS drives for
   speed. There are also eight object storage servers using HP processors
   which control the bulk storage, with each having 24 Infortrend EonStor
   arrays, attached via dual 4Gbit/s FC links, and populated with SATA
   drives, not faster SAS ones. Prescott said: "We got the aggregate
   bandwidth we needed because we had so many spindles.""
